Reporting to the project director, you will be responsible for the management and supervision of the plant and environmental engineering components associated with civil engineering projects, from the planning phase to the completion of the work.

The nature of the work varies a lot, ranging from the vegetation of various types of natural environments (shores, wetlands or bodies of water, urban woodlands, parks, etc.), the management of invasive exotic species, the stabilization of embankments, as well as the implementation of plant engineering developments (fascine, cuttings and planlets, coconut membranes, etc.)

Main responsibilities:

  • Take charge of the environmental and plant engineering aspects of civil engineering and infrastructure projects;
  • Participate in the preparation of tenders for tenders (cost estimation, identification of methods, identification of materials);
  • Participate in the development of working methods in order to ensure the environmental compliance of construction sites;
  • Supervise the design and implementation of mitigation, compensation and restoration measures (phytotechnologies, plant engineering, erosion control, soil management);
  • Supervise and coordinate technical teams and field personnel involved on construction sites;
  • Maintain relationships with suppliers of the various materials used (plants, biodegradable membranes, etc.);
  • Ensure the training and awareness of construction teams about environmental requirements;
  • Coordinate the preparation of environmental authorizations and permits and ensure relationships with regulatory authorities (as required);
  • Follow up on the work and ensure compliance with commitments and deadlines;
  • Contribute to the budgetary management of the environmental and plant aspects of projects;
  • Act as a consultant to project managers, engineers and external partners.

Profile sought:

  • Agronomist Member of the Order of Agronomists of Quebec OR Biologist Member of the Association of Quebec Biologists;
  • Significant experience (10 years and more) in agri-environment, construction environment or compensation projects;
  • Solid knowledge in soil management, erosion and sedimentation, phytotechnologies and restoration of natural environments;
  • Ability to work in contexts with strong technical, regulatory and operational constraints;
  • Leadership, autonomy and excellent communication skills.

Sought after assets:

  • Experience in supervision of construction sites;
  • Demonstrated experience on complex civil engineering projects (transport, maritime structures, urban projects) or large-scale phytotechnology projects;
  • Knowledge of environmental compensation processes;
  • Experience working closely with engineering and construction teams.
